Module 6: Common European Culture and National Identity: Friends or Foes?

This module presents a comparative analysis of national identity and its relationship with European culture across the partners’ nations: Croatia, Romania, Spain, Poland, Serbia, and Bulgaria.

It explores each country’s unique cultural determinants, drawing from national literature and the reflections of key literary figures on Europe.

The module also examines national mythological heroes and their roles in shaping national identity, as well as compares national anthems with the anthem of the European Union.

Last but not least, the module aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how these nations perceive themselves in relation to Europe, highlighting both shared European values and distinct national characteristics.
